Growing High Point (GHP), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, operates Growdega as a mobile marketplace for our network of urban farmers to sell their produce. The Growdega Store Manager will work within Growing High Point’s mission to transform under-resourced neighborhoods through community engagement, empowerment, and entrepreneurship by educating SNAP participants on how to use their EBT benefits to buy fresh, locally grown produce and plants at 50% off (Double the Bucks program) in High Point’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods.
The Growdega Store Manager will:
Plan and execute the daily operations of the Growdega, including set-up, stocking, sales, and breakdown.
Coordinate with GHP’s Director of Operations and other vendors to ensure a consistent and diverse selection of fresh produce and products.
Implement inventory management systems to monitor stock levels and minimize waste in coordination with the Farm to Table Coordinator.
Coordinate transportation logistics, including scheduling drivers, maintaining vehicles, and ensuring timely arrivals at each location.
Foster positive relationships with customers and community members by providing excellent customer service, sharing product knowledge, cooking tips, and nutritional information.
Prepare regular reports on sales, expenses, and overall Growdega performance.
Increase awareness of the Double the Bucks program to drive sales.Â
Develop new markets for Growdega, including special events.
Market Growdega through social media and other platforms by creating a weekly sales flyer and schedule.
Build a stable customer base for repeat business, including increasing Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) produce box subscriptions.
Manage product storage to meet food safety guidelines and preserve freshness.
Work with the Community Liaison to include youth employees in Growdega to develop soft skills.
Use online software and tablets to make sales.
This is a 30-35 hour a week position, Tuesday through Saturday. Retail experience, especially in a grocery store, is preferred. The right candidate will view Growdega as an entrepreneurial opportunity, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be dependable and trustworthy. A clean driving record and NC driver’s license are required.
